Kansas City not only secured victory in the Super Bowl but also solidified their status as the latest NFL dynasty.
In the Super Bowl era (1966-present), only eight teams have achieved consecutive titles, with the last occurrence in 1993 when the Dallas Cowboys did it.
Now, the Chiefs face the challenge of navigating a roster with numerous defensive free agents as they eye an unprecedented third consecutive Super Bowl win. Historically, only the Green Bay Packers achieved a three-peat twice.
As for Mahomes, the Chiefs quarterback is on course to catch Tom Brady, and no one can put it past him.
On Sunday night, at the 2024 Super Bowl, Mahomes threw for 333 yards and two touchdowns despite being under constant pressure from San Francisco’s front four. He also added 66 rushing yards to lead the team, finishing with 399 total yards. With those numbers, Mahomes also won his third Super Bowl MVP, joining Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw in that regard.
At 28 years old, Mahomes has three Super Bowl wins in four appearances, a trio of aforementioned Super Bowl MVPs, two NFL MVPs, and a pair of 5,000-yard seasons. He’s also now checked off being a repeat champion, something nobody had done since Brady and the Patriots in the 2023-24 season.
