The best national teams in Africa will all be in Côte d’Ivoire this month for The AFCON tournament. Established stars will be looking to lead their country to the title for, but let’s look at some youngsters (Under 21) that might steal the show in Côte d’Ivoire.
Bilal El Khannous
(19 Years) Morocco
El Khannous has already scored 3 times and provided 3 assists in all competitions for Genk this season.
A skilful young midfielder who will add energy, mobility and technique to Morocco’s midfield.
He was impressive in their victory against Brazil back in March last year, and hopefully will star this month for the Atlas Lions.
Ernest Nuamah
(20 Years) Ghana
Nuamah has had a mixed season so far with Lyon. His loan spell at the French club started so well, but he has since been affected by the club’s overall form.
Nuamah will add pace and trickiness to Ghana’s right wing, that is if Mohamed Kudus is moved to play more centrally or on substitute appearances.
Amir Richardson
(21 Years) Morocco
A lanky midfielder who has starred for Reims this season.
With 3 goals and 1 assist this season, Richardson can play as a central midfielder and also further forward. Still under 21, but his ball playing ability and also his tackling will come in handy for Morocco’s midfield in Côte d’Ivoire.
Pape Matar Sarr
(21 Years) Senegal
To some football fans, he needs no introduction.
Pape Sarr has been important for Spurs this season, registering 2 goals and 2 assists and several impressive performances in the Premier League.
It will be interesting to see how coach Aliou Cisse utilizes Sarr’s ability to get up and down the pitch.
Karim Konate
(19 Years) Ivory Coast
A modern striker who has been impressive for RB Salzburg.
The Ivorian already has 10 direct goal contributions (8 goals, 2 assists) this season.
In a season where Sebastien Haller is yet to hit the ground running, Konate might surprise a few fans at this year’s Event.
