- Reasons Why Some Top Transfer Deals Still Need To Happen Before The End Of The Summer
With just a little over 25 days till the end of the summer transfer window, some huge deals are still yet to be done. We have already seen the biggest deal of the summer with Kylian Mbappe joining Real Madrid, but there are still a few big names waiting to switch clubs this summer.
Let’s look at a few transfers deals that still needs to happen, just so we as football fans can satisfy their curiosity in the 2024/25 season. We start off with the reigning African player of the year.
Victor Osimhen to PSG
Yes. Not Victor Osimhen to Chelsea or Arsenal, but to PSG. The Napoli striker has made it clear that he wants a leave Italy this summer.
PSG have already tried to agree a deal with Napoli, but both clubs are way off in the valuation of the Nigerian striker.
Why?
With Kylian Mbappe gone, it would be refreshing to see how PSG perform with a more traditional number 9 in Osimhen. They already have Goncalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani, but getting rid of one of the aforementioned strikers should help PSG complete this transfer deal and bring in an elite center forward in Osimhen.
Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid
It just looks like a match made in heaven on paper… right? There have been talks about Julian Alvarez wanting to be a focal point for a team, and not play second fiddle to another striker. At the moment Atletico looks like the perfect place for him.
Why?
The last time, it was an Argentine forward moving to Manchester from Atletico Madrid. The reason why we cannot wait to see this transfer happen is to see how Alvarez fares as the number one striker for a top European side.
De Ligt to Manchester United
Manchester United and Bayern Munich remain in contact for the transfer of Matthijs De Ligt. The Red Devils might be looking to accelerate this deal now because of the recent injury to new signing Leny Yoro.
Why?
So far in his career, Matthijs De Ligt is the 25-year-old defender who peaked at 19. Since his move away from Ajax, De Ligt has struggled to be an important part of a good project since 2019.
Aren’t you curious to see if the only defender to have won the Golden Boy award truly peaked at 19 or if he will rediscover his best at a club as volatile as Manchester United? I know I am.
Nico Williams to Barcelona
Barca links to Nico Williams have cooled down a bit. The club is reportedly focused on signing Dani Olmo at the moment, but the Catalans are still leading the race to sign the Athletic Bilbao winger.
Why?
Was the electrifying display at the EURO 2024 just because of how good Spain was generally? or does he really have what it takes to perform at an institution as big as Barcelona?
Will he thrive when he leaves the comfort of his home in the Basque country or will he just stay put like his brother did all his career.
Viktor Gyokeres To Arsenal
Currently, this transfer is the least likely to happen out of the 5 transfer deals. However, The Gunners remain interested in the Swedish striker, and there is still enough time to get it done.
Gyokeres is valued at around £86 million by Sporting Lisbon, and that’s Valuation has reportedly put off many clubs, but not Arsenal.
Why?
Arsenal need a version of their own “Ruthless finisher” like City have in Erling Haaland, and Viktor Gyokeres looks like that type of signing for them.
