Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry was confirmed to have picked up an ankle strain in the team’s loss to the LA Clippers on Sunday.
There were fears that this could be a more serious injury but early tests revealed the 36-year-old would be out of action for a ‘short while’.
According to ESPN, Curry is dealing with some swelling in the ankle but the belief around the Warriors is that their star man will only be out of action for two weeks. The 4-time NBA champion and 2-time MVP will be re-evaluated on Friday.
Meanwhile, Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid is expected to be unavailable
Wednesday’s game against the Detroit Pistons with knee injuries. Paul George is also expected to miss out. Both stars participated in portions of Tuesday’s practice and their playing status will be reassessed later in the week.
Sixers coach Nick Nurse declined to elaborate on their health and potential timeline to return to the lineup.
“We want these guys to play and we want them to be healthy and we want them to play great and we want them to play great all season,” Nurse said Tuesday.
“Then my main focus is, I’ve got to do the job that I’ve got to do. I’ve got to try to get this team to play as good as it can tomorrow night. That takes a big chunk of my focus.”
George is yet to make his Sixers debut after he signed a four-year, $212 million contract as a free agent this summer.
