Tottenham could not hold on to claim their fifth consecutive win over Manchester United since September 2024 after coming from behind to get a lead late on as Matthijs De Ligt scored a late equalizer for United to steal a draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
After last week’s draw away at Nottingham Forest, Manchester United needed to get back to winning ways with a visit to the English capital. A win would have shot Ruben Amorim’s side to second on the table, with leaders Arsenal playing later in the day.

Manchester United lost to Tottenham on every occasion last season, with the London side defeating Manchester United 4 times in all competitions. United were keen to stop that trend today, and they started well.
After both sides started shakily and nervously, Manchester United took the lead through Premier League’s October 2025 player of the month, Bryan Mbeumo. The former Brentford man headed Amad Diallo’s brilliant cross in the opener against his former boss’s new team.

Spurs were far off in the first half, but they upped the ante in the second. Brennan Johnson scored an offside goal, showing what was to come.

Just before the 85th-minute mark, Spurs equalized. Destiny Udogie found Mathys Tel inside the box with a beautiful cut-back pass, and the young Frenchman turned and slotted the ball past Senne Lemmens.

Five minutes later, the North Londoners thought they had won it with a late goal. Brazilian striker Richarlison connected with Wilson Odobert’s curling effort to score what looked like a last-minute winner.
However, four minutes later, Manchester United had the final say.

Bruno Fernandes delivered brilliantly from a corner kick and found Matthijs De Ligt, and the Dutchman rose to head the ball past Vicario to level the score in a late dramatic twist.
United and Spurs share the points, and both go into the final international break of 2025 on 18 points, in and around the top five.
