Chelsea have confirmed the appointment of Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior as their new permanent manager on a six-year contract. This comes just five days after Enzo Maresca left his position at the club.

Liam Rosenior guided Strasbourg to a seventh-place finish in Ligue 1 last season. This campaign they have been brilliant in the Conference League as they sit on top of the Group Phase stage.

Rosenior made over 140 appearances in the Premier League with clubs such as Hull City and Fulham. He also played for Brighton and Hove Albion before hanging up his boots in 2018.

After signing his contract as Chelsea manager, the 41-year-old revealed how excited he is to coach a club like Chelsea Football Club:

Chelsea appoint Liam Rosenior

“I am extremely humbled and honoured to be appointed Head Coach of Chelsea Football Club. This is a club with a unique spirit and a proud history of winning trophies. My job is to protect that identity and create a team that reflects these values in every game we play as we continue winning trophies.

Rosenior will not take charge of Chelsea’s game against Fulham. Callum McFarlane will continue in charge until Thursday morning, when Liam Rosenior will meet his new players.

Rosenior’s first game in charge of Chelsea will be against Championship side Charlton Athletic in the third round of the FA Cup.
