Chelsea returned to winning ways in the Premier League with an impressive 2-0 victory over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The Blues produced a much-improved second-half performance to punish a wasteful United side, with goals from Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer securing all three points for Xabi Alonso’s men.
Manchester United Waste First-Half Chances
Despite their recent struggles, Manchester United started the game brightly and created several opportunities to take the lead.
Bruno Fernandes missed a golden opportunity after Bryan Mbeumo played him through, while Amad Diallo also came close on two occasions.
Matheus Cunha thought he had given United the lead, but VAR ruled out his effort for offside.
Chelsea also threatened through Estevao Willian and Moises Caicedo, who struck the post shortly before half-time.
However, neither side could find a breakthrough before the interval.
Morgan Rogers Inspires Chelsea
Chelsea returned from the break with greater intensity and took the lead just five minutes into the second half.
Morgan Rogers produced an excellent individual run through the Manchester United defence before calmly lifting the ball over Senne Lammens to make it 1-0.

United’s afternoon quickly got worse when Lisandro Martinez received his second yellow card for raising an arm towards Wesley Fofana inside the penalty area.
The referee awarded Chelsea a penalty, and Cole Palmer stepped up to convert in the 64th minute, doubling the hosts’ advantage.
Carrick’s Problems Continue
Manchester United struggled to recover after going down to ten men, although Estevao had a third Chelsea goal ruled out for offside.

The defeat extends United’s winless run to nine games in all competitions, putting further pressure on Michael Carrick.
For Chelsea, the victory provides an important response after their recent Carabao Cup exit against Liverpool.
The Blues move into fourth place in the Premier League, while United are left with more questions than answers.
