Former Manchester United forward Carlos Tevez has announced his retirement following the death of his father.
The 38-year-old Argentine confirmed his retirement in a statement
“I have retired. It’s confirmed. They offered me many things, including from the United States. But that’s it. I have given everything. Playing the last year was very difficult, but I was able to see my old man. I stopped playing because I lost my number one fan.”
Tevez retires
Segundo Raimundo died from COVID-19 complications in 2021. Tevez stated that it was hard to continue playing football without the support of his adopted father. Carlos Tevez received offers from the MLS to continue football, but he rejected.
Tevez has had a very successful career, especially in Europe. The former Manchester City captain won the Premier League three times, the FA Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, and the Champions League with Manchester United. With Juventus, he also won two Scudetto.
Tevez will be remebered for making the bold move accross town from Manchester United to Manchester City. He played an important role in establishing Manchester City among the big boys in England.
