In a must win match for the league leaders, AC Milan started well. Messias created a good chance for Diaz inside the box, but his hot was blocked. Hernandez scored from the rebound, but it ruled out for offside. Fiorentina created a very good scoring chance from Biraghi’s out-swinging corner. Igor lashed onto the ball at the edge of the penalty area, but he his effort was just inches off target.
Milan set themselves up for a difficult second half with the type of chances they missed in the first half. Franck Kessié played Olivier Giroud through, but the Frenchman spurned the chance. Rafael Leao looked lively from the go, although the Portugues missed a clear chance in the second half after Olivier Giroud found him in the box. Mike Maignan earned his pay with an incredible save from Arthur Cabral’s header.
Rafael Leao scored the winner after a mistake from Fiorentina goalie Terracciano. The forward ran at La Viola’s defense after he was gifted the ball, before placing the ball near post past the Italian goalkeeper.
Milan keep the title charge on with another slim victory. The Rossoneri still have to beat Hellas Verona, Atalanta, and Sassuolo to lift the Scudetto for the first time in 11 years.
