Arsenal will be hoping to finally go one step further in the 2024-25 Premier League season.
The disappointment of finishing second to Manchester City still lingers, but a new season brings fresh hope for Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal squad.
Despite a record-breaking 35 wins in 52 matches, the lack of a trophy was a bitter pill to swallow. However, the young and experienced team will use their disappointment as motivation to win their first League title since 2004.
Arteta emphasizes the “fine margins” involved in winning trophies at the highest level. And the arrival of Riccardo Calafiori will be a massive improvement in the defence. One that was already the stingiest in the Premier League last season, is set to improve further.
Calafiori is expected to solve the left-back issues, but the Gunners boss must also find his best midfield combination, particularly with the success of Declan Rice in a more advanced role.
The impressive performances of Kai Havertz have reduced the need for a new striker. However, reinforcements in attack and a backup for Bukayo Saka, who played almost 60 games last season, would be welcome additions.
Arteta knows his team can go one better, having taken four points off City last season. They are also pursuing Mikel Merino to strengthen the midfield further.
With a strong foundation in place, Arsenal are poised to mount a serious title challenge. The squad’s determination to learn from last season’s disappointment could be key to finally getting over the line.
Would be a welcome development but it is highly unlikely given how others have strengthened too..
