Manchester City Grabbed A Late Winner Against Arsenal To Go 11 Points Clear At The Top.
Fans Not Happy With Controversial Penalty.
The Match
The Gunners had a superb first half against Manchester City and deservedly led through Bukayo Saka. The English forward connected well with Kieran Tierney’s low pass slotting the ball past Ederson. Arsenal were in business and they showed so much strength, but it was not to be.
In the 53rd minute, Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva went down in the box after Xhaka pulled his shirt. Penalty shouts were initially denied by referee Stuart Attewell, but after going over to look at the VAR screen, he gave the penalty and Mahrez converted the spot-kick.
Controversy
Arsenal fans were very vocal about their displeasure, especially after the referee failed to award them a penalty in the first half after Ederson fouled Ødegaard.
Arsenal had another chance to take the lead after City’s equalizer, but Martinelli could not take the chance. Gabriel’s silly red card affected Arsenal’s shape but they still held strong.
Rodri broke the heart of Arsenal fans with minutes to go and that handed Guardiola’s men their 11th straight win in the EPL.
Arsenal`s Performance
Arsenal looked very decent today. The Gunners showed confidence and their tactics worked so well in the first half. They didn’t let Manchester play through them, instead, they won the ball and kept it even in small spaces.
