- Defender To Get A New Deal As Arsenal Loo To Bolster Squad This Summer
Arsenal want to reward defender Gabriel Magalhães with a new contract after an impressive season that has the Gunners still competing for the Premier League title in April.
The Gunners defender has been spectacular this season. He is part of the reasons why Arsenal have conceded less (0.8 GA per 90) in the Premier League. The Gunners have kept 16 clean sheets this season, and that is partly because the Brazilian has been reliable this season.
Arsenal signed Gabriel from Lille back in 2020. Although for the first few months of his time at the club, he was in and out of the squad. Gabriel cemented his place as a regular the following campaign.
Gabriel has now become a defensive leader at Arsenal alongside Saliba. They have conceded the fewest XG and improved on their errors leading to goal from last season.
The Brazilian’s current contract with the club ends in 2027 and he is reportedly earning £100k per week deal. Arsenal are set to give Gabriel a significant pay raise because of his growth at the club and his performances this season.
The North London side have also secured new deals for Saliba and Benjamin White in recent months, but the Gunners won’t stop there. Arsenal will target at least two central defenders this coming summer.
A relatively healthy squad this season has helped them, but they want to prepare for next season.
They will aim to sign a top center-half, a right winger and also a striker before the start of next season.
