Espanyol 2-2 Barcelona
Xavi`s Men Need To Be More Consistent In La Liga
Luuk De Jong grabbed a very late equalizer for Barcelona against Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium. Barcelona started the game well, and Pedri gave them the opener in the 2nd minute.
Espanyol were in touching distance of their first LaLiga win over Barcelona since the 2006-07 season, only to be denied at the death by a Luuk de Jong equalizer in an ill-tempered affair.
Pedri put Barca ahead after 74 seconds, but his effort was canceled out by Sergi Darder. Darder then released Raul de Tomas to fire the home side ahead. It appeared to be enough even after both sides were reduced to 10 men when Gerard Pique and Nicolas Melamed were dismissed. The game had one final twist when De Jong rose in the box to plant his header past Diego Lopez, while there was time for Miguel Morlanes to earn a red card from the bench.
Xavi`s Men Need To Be More Consistent In La Liga
Barcelona reminded fans of the old days in their last match against Atletico Madrid. The Catalans decimated Atletico and fans hoped they`ll carry that momentum into this tie. However, after a promising start, Barcelona could not create many clear-cut chances. Barcelona need to find a way to be consistent this season. They are still fighting for a spot in the Champions League and they should not be dropping points against teams like Espanyol.
