- Barcelona To Intensify Talks For Nico Williams After The Euros
According to reports, Barcelona are waiting for the Euros to end before before they advance negotiations to sign Nico Williams. The Catalans have been monitoring Williams for two years, and they want to sign him this summer.
Nico Williams has impressed at the Euros this summer alongside Barca’s 16-year-old gem Lamine Yamal, and this has increased the number of clubs interested in the Bilbao winger. Barcelona are hoping to make the starting left winger for Spain play alongside Yamal in attack for club and country.
Despite signing a new deal just last December, Williams’ quality, age and potential has alerted many top clubs in Europe.
He scored 8 times and assisted 19 goals in all competitions for Bilbao last season, and he has continued that good form at the EUROS.
Chelsea have been strongly linked with Williams this summer. However, reliable sources have denied the rumors, as they believe Nico Williams’s wage demands is too high for Chelsea’s new wage structure.
Arsenal is also a concrete option for the Pamplona born attacker. But the Gunners have yet to approach Atletico Bilbao with a proposal.
According to GOAL, Barcelona already have an “agreement in principle” for the 21-year-old. However, they plan to advance and finalize talks once the EUROS concludes this week, as they hope to bolster their squad for new manager Hansi Flick.
