Brazil have been in scintillating form since the start of the year and really over the past two years. The Selecao have only lost two of their last 30 games and both of those defeats came at the hands of the Argentines.

Brazi’s Pre-Tournament form

Brazil go into the World Cup as arguably the most in-form team on the planet. Scoring goals for fun and slicing through opposing defenses at will. The attacking talent that Coach Tite has at his disposal is truly mouthwatering.

Brazil are solid in every department. In Ederson and Alisson, they boast two of the World’s best goalkeepers. A midfield that includes Casemiro, Fabinho and Fred just to name a few. Most importantly an attack that very few can rival. All things considered, a semi-final appearance should be the absolute minimum for this group of players.

Argentina

Argentina have been in outstanding form ever since last year’s Copa America triumph. The 3-0 victory over Jamaica last night took their unbeaten run to 35 games. The connection between the team’s midfield and strikers is at its absolute best right now. Chance creation is also at the highest level it’s been for years. its prime right now, backed by its Cup of Champions defeat of Italy in June that ended in a 3-0 win for Messi and the Argentinians.

A previous weakness for Argentina had been the defence. A lack of pace in the backline for years has seen them fall short in major tournaments. However, this is a younger group with a much better defensive core. The emergence of Christian Romero and, most recently, Lisandro Martinez should provide solidity. This would be Messi’s first World Cup title, and it’s likely his last appearance at a World Cup. His experience could be the catalyst in bringing home a win.
