World Number One Carlos Alcaraz has defeated 10-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovicto win Australian Open despite losing the first set.

Carlos Alcaraz Beat Novak Djokovic To Win His First Australian Open Title

Carlitos claimed his victory over Djokovic by winning three sets after losing the first, 2–6, 6–2, 6–3, 7–5. The comeback meant Djokovic lost an Australian Open final for the first time in his career after 10 triumphs.

Djokovic started the game well and easily claimed the first set, as his freshness in the opening minutes of the match showed. However, World Number One Carlos Alcaraz was always going to fight back, and the 39-year-old Serbian struggled to keep up physically for the rest of the match.

Alcaraz took the second set and the third to assert himself in the final and avoid a repeat of his defeat to Djokovic in the quarterfinals of last year’s Australian Open. In the final set, Djokovic and Alcaraz dug deep as both players held serve consistently, but the pure strength of the 22-year-old Alcaraz started to show in the third hour of the match.

The Spaniard took the last two games of the final set to win his first-ever Australian Open and has now completed a career Grand Slam at the young age of 22.
