- Two Names Left On Chelsea manager Shortlist As The Blues Edge Closer To Naming Pochettino’s Replacement
Chelsea have trimmed down the list of potential replacements for Mauricio Pochettino to just two names. According to transfer expert David Ornstein.
The Blues still have Leicester manager Enzo Maresca, and Brentford manager Thomas Frank on their shortlist.
Ipswich manager Kieran Mckenna is no longer in consideration for the job, and Chelsea will move on with either Enzo Maresca or Thomas Frank, according to The Athletic.
There have also been links with former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi in recent days. There have been strong speculations that the Italian has been lined up by Chelsea to take over this summer.
Roberto De Zerbi strangely quit his position as Brighton’s manager earlier this month. Chelsea also took the swift decision to sack Mauricio Pochettino just days after the season ended.
Since then, there have been talks about Chelsea wanting a manager that teaches football, will comply with the structure of the club, plays progressive and possession heavy football, and can also compete with the likes of Mikel Arteta and Pep Guardiola – Roberto De Zerbi fits all these descriptions.
It is increasingly likely that one of Enzo Maresca, or Roberto De Zerbi will become the new Chelsea manager, and Chelsea fans should have their answer by the end of this week.
The club wants to finish even higher than the 6th position they achieved under Mauricio Pochettino, while playing an attractive brand of football.
