Chelsea did no business in the transfer window last month. The Blues were hoping to sign defenders that could replace players that could leave in the summer.
Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen are all linked with moves away from Chelsea. The blues were looking to agree on a free summer move for Niklas Sule. Sule made it clear that he was leaving Bayern Munich at the end of the season. Despite interest from the likes of Chelsea, and Newcastle Sule has decided to join Borussia Dortmund.
The deal was announced yesterday, now Chelsea have to look elsewhere for a defender in the summer. Chelsea have been linked with Attila Szalai, Jules Kounde, Ronald Araujo, and even Juventus’s Matthijs de Ligt.
If Antonio Rudiger is unable to agree on a new deal with Chelsea many believe Jules Kounde is Chelsea’s first choice to replace the German. Kounde almost moved to Chelsea last summer, however, Sevilla blocked his move.
Chelsea could also tempt Barcelona with a big offer for Ronald Araujo. Araujo’s situation at Barça is interesting top European clubs, and Chelsea leads the pack.
Thomas Tuchel has only signed one player since he was appointed Chelsea’s boss last year. This summer the German will need Chelsea to invest in his team as he goes in search of the Premier League title afresh next year.
