Chelsea are working on deals to sign Wesley Fofana from Leicester City and Denzel Dumfries of Inter Milan. The Stamford Bridge club intends to continue strengthening their squad as the new Premier League season approaches. Wesley Fofana and Dumfries rank high among the targets being pursued.
Leicester are believed to value centre-back Fofana at a figure in the region of £80million to £85m ($97m to $103m). Chelsea consider this price a bit too high and hope that could be lowered by offering players as part of the deal. One sticking point is that Leicester seem to have no desire to sell. Fofana is key to their plans and recently signed a contract to stay at the King Power Stadium till 2027. This will be a difficult transfer for Chelsea or any other suitor to complete at the current time.
However, their interest in the France Under-21 international is firm and the same applies to 26-year-old Netherlands international Dumfries. Inter need to raise money this summer. Their protracted talks with Paris Saint-Germain over Milan Skriniar stalled because of their price demands. Chelsea’s admiration for the right wing-back is strong.

They have already dealt with the Italian team this summer over Romelu Lukaku’s loan. Their attempts to recruit Fofana and Dumfries are not a case of one or the other but both. The Blues have missed out on multiple defensive targets this summer and will be hoping to quickly get a few deals over the line.
