Erling Haaland has had a phenomenal Manchester City debut season and he wrapped it up with a treble win as well as equaling a record set by Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008.
Manchester City reached several historical milestones with their victory over Inter Milan in Saturday’s Champions League final. They lifted the trophy for the first time and became just the second English club to complete the treble.
Haaland equals Ronaldo’s record
It was also a significant moment for Haaland, who equalled a feat which up until last night only Cristiano Ronaldo had achieved.
Cristiano and Haaland are the only two footballers in the history of English football that have managed to win both the Premier League and the Champions League. Finish as the top scorer in both competitions as well as being named Footballer of the Year all in the same season.
Haaland had a debut season to remember finishing the season with 52 goals and 9 assists in 53 games.
The 22-year-old Norwegian has many more levels to get to and, after winning his first Champions League, will be hungry to break even more records.
