- Ways Kai Havertz Can Improve Arsenal’s Attack
The Gunners have agreed a €65m deal with Chelsea over the sale of Kai Havertz. There have been a lot of talk about the German’s move to the Emirates, with Gunners fans expressing their concerns over the German.
Kai Havertz joined Chelsea in 2020, and despite his UCL Final goal in 2021, the German hasn’t lived up to expectations at Stamford Bridge. After producing just 19 goals and 10 assists in 91 Premier League appearances, Arsenal fans are right to be worried about the club signing a player like Havertz, but let’s explore how he could improve the Gunners’s attack.
Link up play
Havertz might not be the best goalscorer in the League, or the player with the most assists, but very few players in the League work harder than him in a build up stage of an attack. His versatility allows him to pick up the ball, start an attack and also arrive perfectly in the box to finish off chances or assist his teammates.
He has shown this in many games for Chelsea in the last 3 years, despite the club lacking a top creator. With technically gifted players like Martin Ödegaard, Saka, and Gabriel Jesus around him, Kai Havertz could light up the Emirates with timely movements and technique.
Aerial Prowess
Arsenal’s main striker last season was Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian is technically sound and superb with his feet, but the addition of Havertz adds height to the Arsenal attack. It makes gives Arsenal more threat from corners and from deep crosses.
Versatility
Kai Havertz is also capable of playing at the tip of the midfield, like an attacking 10. In case of an injury to Martin Ödegaard, Kai Havertz is a suitable replacement for the Norwegian.
Havertz’s goal statistics at Chelsea are not impressive, but the German is a player who has featured consistently under different managers at Chelsea, and that shows his value. He will improve Arsenal’s attack in Mikel Arteta’s system.
