- Inter Reach First UCL Final Since 2010
Inter Milan secured their place in the final of this year’s Champions League after beating AC Milan 1-0 last night and 3-0 on aggregate.
The first real effort of the game came in the 7th minute, an ambitious effort from almost 40 yards out from Theo Hernandez, his effort flew over the bar.
The tenacious Sandro Tonali created a beautiful chance for AC Milan 3 minutes later. The former Brescia man found a little space down the left and was relentless in his bid to get inside Inter’s box, despite Mkhitaryan’s effort to stop him. His pass found Brahim Diaz, whose shot was well saved by Andre Onana.
Inter were a bit relaxed and aware that a goal could change the direction of the tie. Rafael Leão who returned to the Milan side yesterday created a good chance for himself and perhaps should have scored, but his effort went wide.
Edin Dzeko almost got another goal after a top delivery from Hakan Calhanoglu. The Bosnian headed straight at Maignan who was able to react quickly to parry the ball away.
AC Milan created a few good half chances, but they couldn’t get that one goal to rattle Inter Milan.
Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez combined to seal a UCL Final spot for the Nerazzurri after the 70th minute mark.
The Argentine striker found the near post after some impressive hold-up play from Lukaku that created the space for a pass inside the box from.
A 3-0 aggregate victory means Inter Milan will play in the Final of the UEFA Champions League for the first time since they won it in 2010.
