​Kevin De Bruyne has announced he will depart Manchester City upon the expiration of his contract at the end of the current season, concluding a decade-long tenure that has solidified his status as one of the club’s greatest ever players.
He broke the news on his Instagram account in a post titled ‘Dear Manchester.’
Since he arrived from Wolfsburg in 2015, the 33-year-old Belgian midfielder has been instrumental in Manchester City’s dominance. He contributed immensely to 16 major trophies, including six Premier League titles, five League Cups, two FA Cups, and the club’s inaugural UEFA Champions League triumph in 2023.
De Bruyne’s impact is underscored by his remarkable statistics: over 400 appearances in all competitions, with more than 100 goals and a club-record tally of assists. Notably, he equalled Thierry Henry’s record for the most assists in a Premier League season, registering 20 in the 2019-2020 campaign.
In his heartfelt message, De Bruyne expressed gratitude for his time at the club, stating,
“Every story comes to an end, but this has definitely been the best chapter.”​
