- Manchester United Lose Away To West Ham
- Top 4 Spot Now Under Direct Threat From Liverpool
Manchester United were beaten by West Ham at the London stadium late on Sunday night. Erik ten Hag’s men needed a win in London to put some good distance between themselves and Liverpool in the race for a top 4 finish, but they came away with nothing.
United started the game with a few good half chances and attempts. Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Bruno Fernandes all came close, with Rashford hitting the outside of the left bar with his effort.
David De Gea, who has endured a mixed first season under Erik ten Hag, was at fault for West Ham’s goal.
On the counter, Said Benrahma had Manchester United defenders closing in on him, and he chose to go for goal just outside the box, and somehow, his tame effort was able to beat David De Gea to give West Ham the lead and what turned out to be the winner.
Manchester United struggled to create clear-cut chances throughout the rest of the game, and it was West Ham that had two other goals chalked off for a foul and offside.
Top 4 spot now under serious threat
Manchester United still have to play Wolves, Bournemouth, Chelsea, and Fulham, and they will need to win all to avoid dropping out of the top 4. Liverpool are currently 5th, just one point behind United, although they have played a game more.
Not getting UCL football for next season would break the hearts of many Manchester United fans, and undo a lot of hard work Erik ten Hag has done this season.
United have only one win in their last 6 matches in all competition (excluding penalties). Erik ten Hag needs to fix this late-season rot and do it fast, or else the club will miss out on qualifying for the UCL once again this year.
If he fails to qualify then He should be sacked..
