- Manchester United Are Looking To Improve Their Midfield By Signing Manuel Ugarte After Finalizing Leny Yoro Deal
Manchester United will continue their squad building this summer with a move for PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte. The Red Devils still want to improve their squad by signing two midfielders and potentially, one more attacker.
Manuel Ugarte joined PSG just last year from Sporting Lisbon, but his stay at the Parc des Prince has been unsuccessful so far. PSG manager Luis Enrique prefers other midfielders to the Uruguayan.
Ugarte has made it clear to PSG that he wants to leave the club this summer, and the French Champions are not opposed to him leaving as long as they recoup most of what they payed for him last summer.
Manchester United have already established contact with PSG over a potential deal for Manuel Ugarte last month. However, closing deals for Joshua Zirkzee, and Leny Yoro was more important to the United.
With Leny Yoro’s deal all but done, Manchester United will focus all their energy on advancing talks to sign the PSG defensive midfielder.
Midfield is an area where Manchester United need to strengthen this summer. With the unreliable performances and availability of Casemiro, and Sofyan Amrabat’s loan expiration, the FA Cup Champions need one or two reinforcements in central midfield.
Manchester United were tracking Benfica’s Joao Neves, but PSG lead the race to sign the 19-year-old. Recent reports also links them to Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton. With recent developments in Italy, Adrien Rabiot has also become an option for United.
However, new sporting directors will evaluate options, and prioritize signing young players who can provide long term solution for the club.
