According to reports, Chelsea are close to reaching an agreement with former Spurs, Southampton and PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino as the permanent replacement for Graham Potter. The Argentine is reportedly keen on moving to West London after extended talks with the Chelsea bosses. The Blues shortlisted Luis Enrique, Julian Naglesmann, and a few other managers, but the Chelsea heirachy ruled out Enrique, and Naglesmann dropped out of the running to become the new Chelsea boss.
Pochettino impressed Chelsea owners in the first round of talks. They are also like the fact that he has vast Premier League experience with a club like Tottenham.
Popular journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that there has been extensive talks between both parties in Spain recently, and that Pochettino has told his backroom staff to get ready for the Chelsea job.
The Blues have been a mess since the sacking of Thomas Tuchel in September, with Graham Potter’s horrendous spell and Frank Lampard’s run of results that has seen The Blues crash out of the Champions League and lost league games to Brighton and Wolves.
