Shedeur Sanders, the highly touted Colorado quarterback, went unselected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Despite being one of the most scrutinized players, he didn’t hear his name called among the 32 picks at Lambeau Field.
There were whispers of Sanders’ stock falling ahead of the draft, but it was still a surprise given the frequent buzz that he could go as early as third overall to the New York Giants. Instead, the Giants took Jaxon Dart from Ole Miss after trading back into the first round.

Sanders watched the draft from home in Texas with his father, Deion Sanders, and brother Deion Sanders Jr. After the first round, his father posted a speech from Shedeur, who said:
“We didn’t expect this, of course, but I feel like with God, anything is possible, everything is possible. I don’t feel like this happened for no reason. All of this is, of course, fuel to the fire.

“Under no circumstances did we all know this was going to happen, but we understand we are on to bigger and better things. Tomorrow’s the day. We’re going to be happy regardless. Legendary.”
Sanders now looms as one of the top names available in the second round, but the fact that no team jumped back into the first round to take him raises concerns about his draft prospects.
