On Tuesday, Manchester City almost blew a 4-goal lead away against Fulham. On Wednesday, Chelsea looked a shadow of themselves against lowly Leeds United at Elland Road — Those two results show exactly why the 2025/26 Premier League title is Arsenal’s to lose.
City rocked up to London on the back of a 3-2 win against Leeds United. The Citizens looked like running away with it against Fulham before half-time with a commanding 3-1 lead.

Early in the second half, City scored two more to take the score to 5-1. However, cracks started appearing after Alex Iwobi slapped home Fulham’s second goal on the night.
Samuel Chukwueze scored a brace as the game went on to take the score to an exciting 5-4 with over 10 minutes to play. The Cottagers nearly stole a point, but Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol came in clutch with a goal-line clearance to keep Pep Guardiola and the City fan base sane.
Chelsea did not even look like professionals away at Elland Road. A ground the Blues have a horrible record on, haunted them from the first minute to the last.

Leeds were up for it from the first whistle, and they earned a powerful free header that Robert Sanchez could not save inside the first 5 minutes.
A bad error in defence also allowed Tanaka to double the score. Neto pulled one back, but Chelsea’s night got even worse from there. Tosin Adarabioyo lost concentration and directly gifted Leeds’ third goal.
Arsenal Soldier On
Meanwhile, Arsenal rested Bukayo Saka after Spurs, Bayern, and Chelsea exertions.

The Gunners also rested Jurrien Timber and played Ben White, but still, Mikel Arteta’s men put two goals past a stubborn Brentford side.
A game against Brentford typically turns into a horrid affair for any top side. But Arsenal fought through it and navigated the game brilliantly despite being without Gabriel, Saliba, and losing Mosquera during the game.
Arsenal’s ability to negotiate a win with a clean sheet in a tougher test at home to Brentford, City almost throwing away a four-goal lead against Fulham, and Chelsea completely imploding away to Leeds perfectly sums up why no real competition exists for the Gunners yet, and why they remain the overwhelming favourites to win the Premier League. — And oh, Liverpool failed to beat Sunderland at Anfield too, in case you thought they might be back in title discussions.
