There was no stopping entertaining Premier League Matchweek 21 midweek games this week as clubs continue to chase the League title, European spots, and Premier League safety. Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City all dropped points at the upper end of the table. Arsenal took full advantage by beating Spurs to close the gap on Liverpool.
Manchester United claimed an all important win against Southampton with 3 late goals from Amad Diallo. Newcastle leap into fourth on the table following their win against Wolves, and West Ham looked refreshed as they claimed a 3-2 win against Fulham.
Let’s rank the top five players from Premier League Matchweek 21.
Murillo
The Brazilian defender was on immaculate for Nottingham Forest, and he was a big reason Liverpool did not claim all 3 points at the City ground. The left-footed defender made 1 block, 17 clearances, 8 headed clearances, 2 key interceptions, 7 recoveries and was only dribbled past once.
Phil Foden
Foden looks to be back in form for Manchester City, and although Pep Guardiola’s men could not hold on to the two goal lead Foden gave them to claim all 3 points, The English midfielder’s instincts and finishing against Brentford gets him a spot on this list.
Alex Iwobi
Another star in a team that lost. Alex Iwobi is having a spectacular campaign so far for the Cottagers. The Nigerian scored a brace in Fulham’s 3-2 loss away from home over the weekend. Iwobi created 5 chances, scored twice and also completed 100% of his dribbles against West Ham.
Alexander Isak
Newcastle are where they are on the table because of the brilliance of Alexander Isak. The Swedish striker has been brilliant over in the last 3 months for Eddie Howe’s men. Isak scored twice and assisted Antony Gordon as Newcastle climb back into UCL places.
Amad Diallo
The Ivorian saved Manchester United from an embarrassing loss at home to relegation favorite Southampton in spectacular fashion. Amad scored a 12-minute hat-trick to help Manchester United to a 3-1 win at Old Trafford.
