- Top 10 Best Young Footballers in the world, 2024
Being a youngster in today’s football world comes with its perks, but the biggest challenge is how competitive it is at the highest level nowadays. It is not easy for under-21 footballers to stamp their feet in a top football club, unless they are super-talented or very effective for the team.
We have ranked the top 10 best young (under-21) footballers in the world based on their performance in the 2023/24 season so far.
10 – Lamine Yamal (16)
To start up the list, the Barcelona’s 16/20-year-old kid…yeah, we don’t know for sure, but he makes this list regardless. The responsibilities that Lamine Yamal is currently shouldering at Barcelona, for a 20-year-old, it would be impressive, but if he is truly 16, we might be witnessing another phenomenal player come through the ranks at Barcelona.
An impressive season so far, and he has notched 6 goals and 7 assists, he deserves a spot on this list, and he beats out Malo Gusto, and a couple other top names for this position.
9 – Hojlund Rasmus (21)
He has had an average season in all honesty. A few bright sparks here and there for Manchester United has not totally convinced the decision makers at Old Trafford, especially the new ones. But if we have a deeper look into Hojlund’s development, it has been a massive year for him.
13 goals in all completions in a dysfunctional Manchester United attack, including 5 goals in the Champions League, and a handful of good performances after making the big jump from Atalanta to the biggest club in England, Commendable.
8 – Matias Soule (20)
Juventus will be licking their lips for next season, because with Soule, it looks like they have a real talent on their hands. The left-footed Argentine attacker (I know what you’re thinking) has been impressive for Frosinone this season.
Does it take much to stand out in a team currently placed 18th in the Serie A? It is actually more challenging to be consistent in a team that lacks real quality. With 10 goals and 2 assists this season, to a Frosinone fan, Soule has been phenomenal.
7 – Alejandro Garnacho (19)
One thing I love about this player is his directness. He just wants to run at you, and that is refreshing to see these days. He is relentless, and has been Manchester United’s best attacker this season in my opinion.
Reliable, rarely gets injured, and for a 19-year-old, that is fantastic. If he improves his effectiveness and decision-making inside the box, he will hold down a spot in Manchester United’s attack for years.
6 – Warren Zaire Emery (18)
Warren Zaire Emery understands his role, and what it takes to excel in his position. This is why he makes the top 10 Best Young Footballers list, and also why he has become so important for PSG at 18.
He looks like a player who could develop into a classy, hard-working, and yet modern central midfielders. He is technically secure and with 3 goals and 6 assists this season, he has shown that he can contribute in the final meters of the pitch.
5 – Sávio Moreira de Oliveira (19)
POV, You just earned yourself a transfer to the strongest team currently in World football with your performances so far this season – That is Savio’s reality.
Manchester City, already have an agreement to snap up the impressive 19-year-old who has been compared to Vinícius Júnior, and has bagged 10 goals and 7 assists for Girona this season.
4 – Xavi Simons (20)
Already being targeted by Manchester City as a potential replacement for Kevin De Bruyne.
PSG have also stated that he will return to Paris this summer permanently, that is how good he has been on loan at PSV and now at RB Leipzig.
One of the best players in the Bundesliga already, and he has contributed 8 goals and 13 assists to Leipzig’s season.
3 – Cole Palmer (21)
16 goals and 12 assists in all competitions for Cole Palmer this season. No Chelsea fan could have imagined that back in August.
Palmer took to life at Chelsea like a duck to water. He slotted in perfectly, and since his debut, he has been the best player at SW6, by a mile.
2- Florian Wirtz (20)
Recovered from an ACL injury midway through the 2022/23 season, and he is now fully back to his best. Wirtz will fetch Leverkusen at least £90m if they decide to sell.
What a player he is, and what a season he is having under Xabi Alonso. 11 goals and 17 assists this season, and he is leading his side to a league title, at just 20. I am excited to see how he performs at the Euros for Germany.
1- Jude Bellingham (20)
Who else? 20 goals 9 assists in your first season at Real Madrid is good enough for a striker not to talk of a 20-year-old midfielder that was supposed to struggle a bit with the demands at Real Madrid.
Bellingham is living every footballer’s dream in his first season in Spain. He has been tipped to win major individual honours if he ends this campaign strongly.
Impressive list but I’d think to make this list you’d have at least been doing Ok since last season, which a couple here weren’t…
