- Bayern Munich Are Keen On Keeping Real Madrid Linked Alphonso Davies Beyond This Summer
After confirming the signing of Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid are going after another world-class player in Alphonso Davies.
The Canadian has been in a contract tussle with the Bavarians since the start of the year. He has reportedly turned down multiple contract offers from the German giants, in favour of a move to Spain.
Bayern Munich still have an offer on the table for Davies, and they are trying to convince the 23-year-old to remain at the club and work under new manager Vincent Kompany.
However, according to recent reports from popular journalist Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid do not want to pay the rumoured €50m fee Bayern want. They are looking to negotiate a “reasonable deal” with the German giants, as they wish to sign Davies this summer.
Alphonso Davies has been at Bayern Munich since 2018. Since his move from Vancouver Whitecaps, he has grown into one of the best full-backs in the world.
Real Madrid currently have Ferland Mendy as their first choice left-back, but there is a depth issue in that position. Suspension or injury to Ferland Mendy often means Eduardo Camavinga shifts into that position. Los Banos believe Davies could hold down the left-back role for years, just like Marcelo did, and Roberto Carlos, before him.
There have also been talks about Davies waiting to run down his contract at Bayern in favour of a move to Real Madrid for free next year.
Bayern are also considering their options as they have been linked with Chelsea’s Dutch left-back Ian Maatsen who previously played under Vincent Kompany at Burnley.
