Los Blancos have reached an agreement with the former Chelsea star to terminate his contract as they begin the long process of refreshing their squad this summer. Eden Hazard will leave Real Madrid at the end of the June and will become a free agent after four seasons at the club.
The Belgian endured a nightmarish four-year spell in Madrid. He wanted to stay for the last year on his contract, but Real Madrid and the player have now mutually agreed to end his stay at the club early.
Hazard joined his “dream-club” Real Madrid from Chelsea back in 2019, and he failed to hit the ground running under Zinedine Zidane.
The Belgian suffered through niggling injuries and fitness issues in his early days at the club, and failed to re-discover his best form for the Spanish outfit. Hazard’s transfer (signed for €100m) will go down as one of the worst in the history of football, with the Belgian only contributing 7 goals and 12 assists, and having little to no impact at the club in four seasons.
There are now talks of the former Belgium Captain considering an early retirement from football.
