- Real Madrid beat Osasuna to win Copa del Rey, but all focus now on Manchester City
Real Madrid were crowned Copa del Rey Champions yesterday after beating a stubborn Osasuna side seeking to make history. Los Blancos took the lead through Rodrygo just a minute after kick-off.
The Brazilian lashed unto the ball after some impressive work from Vinicius down the left. Osasuna could have equalized, with Real having to make a goal-line clearance from Ezzalzouli’s attempt. Lucas Torro equalized for the Pamplona side in the 2nd half. However, Rodrygo won the game for Real Madrid in the 70th minute with a controlled finish. Rodrygo handed Real Madrid their first Copa del Rey since the 2013/14 season.
Now, all focus shifts for Los Blancos to the all important UCL Semi-final tie against Manchester City this week. High-flying Manchester City visit the Bernabéu for the first leg of their semi-final double header against Real, and many believe the tie could decide who wins the UCL.
Real will be eyeing history, and will be hoping for a repeat of last season’s result at the Bernabéu on Tuesday.
