- Reports Emerging on Monday Suggests Manchester United Will Sack Erik ten Hag
Despite winning the FA Cup on Saturday, reports coming out of Manchester suggest that the club will sack Erik ten Hag.
Manchester United planned to evaluate the 2023/24 season before deciding whether to keep Ten Hag or get another manager. It looks like Manchester United hierarchy have now decided to part ways with the former Ajax manager.
Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United finished 8th this season – The club’s worst finish in the Premier League era. Ten Hag’s 14 losses in the league this season is also Manchester United’s highest since the 1989-1990 season.
Although the Dutch manager has always maintained that injuries and unavailability of key players plagued Manchester United this season, the club officials aren’t convinced.
After winning the FA Cup on Saturday, reporters asked Ten Hag about his future. He reiterated his commitment to the club’s new project and expressed his willingness to continue at the club. However, he also stated that he will go somewhere else to win trophies if United do not want him.
“If they don’t want me, then I go somewhere else to win trophies because that is what I do.”
Manchester United have been linked with different managers in the past week. Former club assistant coach Kieran Mckenna has been linked with a move to Manchester United.
Former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has also been linked with the Manchester United job. Thomas Tuchel is also a strong candidate, and might be the favourite to succeed Erik ten Hag.
