Chelsea and Newcastle wrapped up Premier League gameweek 28 in excellent fashion on Monday. Manchester United got back to winning ways at home against Everton. Kai Havertz bailed out Arsenal against Brentford again. The biggest match of the round, Liverpool v Manchester City, produced an entertaining 1-1 draw at Anfield.
Let’s rank the top 5 best players from Premier League gameweek 28 of the 2023/24 season.
Alexis Mac Allister
Mac Allister was quite impressive against Manchester City. The Argentine scored from the spot in the absence of Mohamed Salah.
He was also influential in midfield, making 11 recoveries, and winning 8 duels against the dominant defending champions.
Dango Outtara
Outtara helped Bournemouth snatch get a draw after going 2-0 down against Sheffield United at the Vitality stadium.
The Burkina Faso winger headed in from an expertly delivered corner by Ryan Christie. He also would not give up in the box late on, as his header found Enes Unal who scored the equalizer for The Cherries.
Benjamin White
Ben White has been having a quiet, but impactful season for the Gunners this season.
The former Brighton man’s cross into the box was perfect for Declan Rice who headed home the opener. White’s cross also found Kai Havertz perfectly in the box, and the lanky German scored the winner.
Cole Palmer
Another inspiring night for Cole Palmer. He thought he scored early on in the game, but it turned out to be an assist for Nicolas Jackson who put Chelsea ahead against Newcastle.
Palmer then slammed home Chelsea’s second goal in the 57th minute to restore their lead against Newcastle. Palmer has now scored and assisted in a game 5 different times for Chelsea this season.
Heung-min Son
A top class performance from Spurs captain Heung-min Son.
The South Korean forward was the chief schemer for Spurs against their direct top 4 rivals Aston Villa. Son assisted Tottenham’s second goal, scored the third and also assisted Timo Werner for 4-0.
