Aston Villa and Liverpool gave a befitting end to Premier League gameweek 37 with a 3-3 draw at Villa Park.
Manchester City will need to beat Tottenham and West Ham to win the Premier League this season, as Manchester United could not do their city rivals a favour by taking points off Arsenal on Sunday. Chelsea got a late winner against Nottingham Forest, while Burnley and Luton Town are all but relegated. Gameweek 37 was entertaining, but the final day promises to be even more dramatic at the top.
Let’s rank the top 5 players in gameweek 37 of the 2023/24 Premier League season.
Mohammed Kudus
Mohamed Kudus dictated West Ham’s attacking play against Luton town. The Ghanaian was sublime on the day, despite not scoring.
Kudus assisted West Ham’s third goal, but he also created the most chances, completed the most dribbles and came close to scoring when he hit the woodwork.
Michael Olise
Olise continued his excellent form against Wolves. The Frenchman scored a beautiful goal to open the scoring for Oliver Glasner’s men.
Olise was the chief playmaker against Wolves, as he created the most chances on the night to help Palace to their fifth win in 6 matches.
Bryan Mbuemo
Mbuemo continues to lift Brentford as he makes up for time lost to injuries this season. The Cameroonian and Youane Wissa won the game for Brentford. Mbuemo and Wissa both scored and assisted each other in the final minutes of the game.
Wissa’s one time pass to Mbuemo for Brentford’s first goal was fantastic. Mbuemo also returned the favour when he picked out Wissa with a sublime pass inside the box to create Brentford’s winner. Mbuemo edges it because of his efforts from the first half and also his work rate throughout the game.
Jhon Duran
The Colombian striker came on against Liverpool on Monday night and scored two late goals to earn the Villans a 3-3 draw as they near 2024/25 UEFA Champions League qualification.
Jhon Duran capitalized on Alexis Mac Allister’s mistake for Liverpool to bring Villa back into the game with a sweet strike from outside the box. The Colombian was somewhat lucky with his second, as a pass from Moussa Diaby was deflected by Duran over Alisson for Villa’s equalizer.
Josko Gvardiol
Gvardiol first goal against Fulham showed the entire world that he is just as tricky as any other winger in the league.
The Croatian started a quick one-two while swerving inside the box to beat a Fulham defender before slotting in City’s opener. He was also on hand to make the score comfortable with a “Haaland-esque” finish inside the box.
Josko Gvardiol is the best player for Premier League gameweek 37 of the 2023/24 season.
