GK – Jordan Pickford
Pickford was brilliant in this tournament for England. Always ready to make a good save, but he would’ve wished he did better with Nico William’s opener in the final.
He was good throughout the tournament for England. The Everton Goalie made many important saves including one in the shootout against Switzerland. He is a key reason why England made it all the way to the final.
CB – Aymeric Laporte
Laporte only had an average game against Albania – a game that Spain didn”t need to win. He led the eventual champions’ defence excellently all through the knockout stages.
He was crucial in the wins against Georgia, Germany, and France. His passes hurt England in the final, and he was also strong when defending.
CB – Marc Guehi
Guehi had a good tournament in Germany. He has shown that he belongs on the big stage.
The Crystal Palace man has been linked with a move to Liverpool following his showing at the Euros – That’s is how good he was for England.
LB – Marc Cucurella
An assured performance all through the competition. For someone that was highlighted before the tournament to be the weakest link in the Spanish squad, Cucurella was the exact opposite for Spain…
His performances in the knockout stages must have surprised a few fans. He was reliable and also kept wingers at bay. He also created the tournament-winning goal in the final, and was the best left back at the tournament by a mile.
RB – Jules Kounde
France were disappointing at EURO 2024, but Jules Kounde was solid. France arguably had the best defensive structure, and Kounde was an important part of that set up.
He won man of the match award and created 5 chances in the Round of 16 victory over Belgium – The one game France won in regular time at the tournament.
DM – Rodrigo
Luis De La Fuente has reportedly named Rodri as the best player in the world, and many will understand why.
The Manchester City man was at the heart of everything Spain did in Germany. He was the main cog in a brilliant Spanish midfield set up.
CM – Fabian Ruiz
Ruiz had an amazing tournament for Spain. He was linking everything up from Rodri to Olmo to Lamine Yamal, Williams and Alvaro Morata.
He was a threat to opponents throughout the Euros, and he was directly involved in 26% of all the goals Spain scored at the tournament. (2 goals , 2 assists).
AMF – Dani Olmo
Dani Olmo made sure Spain didn’t miss Pedri at all in the crucial stages of the tournament. An effective attacking midfielder who is always looking to make something happen in and around the box.
He played Germany out of the tournament, and scored the winner in the semifinals against France.
RW – Lamine Yamal
It is a little too late to say “Remember the name” now, because he is already one of the best right wingers in the world at 17.
The La Masia graduate inspired Spain throughout the tournament. He consistently showed why Xavi trusted him in many Barca games last season. The undisputed Young player of the tournament – A true gem.
LW – Jamal Musiala
A painful quarter-final exit for Germany will not erase how well Musiala played at the Euros.
The German attacking midfielder had the answer for Germany against Scotland, Hungary and Denmark in the round of 16. He showed his class in attack where other German attackers fumbled.
ST – Cody Gakpo
With 3 goals and one assist at the Euros, Gakpo was the stand out performer for the Netherlands. The Liverpool forward created 3 chances and scored the opening goal in his country’s first game of the tournament, he also scored in a 3-2 loss to Austria.
Gakpo grabbed a goal and an assist in the Round of 16 match against Romania, before forcing an own goal that proved to be the winner for his country in the quarterfinals against Turkiye.
