- Bayern Munich 1-1 Manchester City
Bayern Munich and Manchester City played out a 1-1 draw in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final at the Allianz Arena. City advanced to the semi-finals with a 4-1 aggregate win, thanks to their performance in the first leg.
Despite some early chances for Bayern in the game, Erling Haaland opened the scoring in the 57th minute to put City ahead, but Joshua Kimmich equalized from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute after a foul by Rodri. Guardiola’s side will face defending Champions Real Madrid in the last four, as they gun for their first UEFA Champions League trophy.
Thomas Tuchel admitted that his team needed a miracle to overturn the three-goal deficit. Despite praising the side’s fighting spirit, Thomas Tuchel will know where Bayern Munich came short in both legs against City. Defensive sloppiness by Dayot Upamecano in the first leg and the inability to finish off chances in both games worked in the favour of the ever-efective Manchester City. The Bavarians will re-assemble and try to improve their squad in the summer to chase after the Seventh UCL title.
