We have witnessed greatness this season in the Champions League. We have seen unexpected heroes deliver for their teams, and we’ve also seen top stars consistently perform for their clubs throuout the competition this year.
As the competition culminates tomorrow, let’s rank the UCL 2023/24 Best Players.
Joshua Kimmich
Despite playing two different positions for Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich this season, Kimmich was effective. He was effective defensively and also on the offence.
The German midfielder created 26 chances in this year’s tournament, including 7 big chances. He also decided the quarter-final tie against Arsenal with a fantastic header.
Niclas Füllkrug
A fantastic UEFA Champions League season for the German target man. He has scored just 3 goals, but his overall performance in this year’s tournament has been impressive.
He scored important knockout goals against Atlético Madrid in the quarter-finals and also against PSG in the semifinals.
Marcel Sabitzer
Sabitzer’s best UCL campaign so far in his career. The Austrian has registered 5 assists this season, more than any player. He also chipped in with an important goal against Atlético Madrid in the quaerter-final.
Rodrygo Goes
The Brazilian is an important part of the reason why Real Madrid are in the UCL final this year. 5 goals and 2 assists. His goals home and away against Manchester City made the difference for Real Madrid.
Harry Kane
Same old unlucky Harry. However, he helped Bayern’s cause in the UEFA Champions League this season with 8 goals and 4 assists. Unless Rodrygo or Vinicius score a hat-trick in the final on Sunday, Kane will win the highest goalscorer award.
Jude Bellingham
An unbelievable first season in Madrid. Although Bellingham’s game for Real Madrid changed in the knockout stages of the competition this season, it was mainly due to the way Real Madrid played against their opponents.
Bellingham has registered 4 goals and 4 assists this season in the Champions League, and who knows if he will get the winner in the final, like he has done in important games for Real Madrid all season.
Kylian Mbappé
Kylian could not make his last season with PSG count in the UEFA Champions League. They were ousted by finalists Borussia Dortmund, but Mbappé still performed for the Parisians this season.
8 goals for PSG this season, including 3 goals home and away against Real Sociedad in the round of 16, two v Barcelona, and important goals for PSG in the group stages.
Toni Kroos
It will be Kroos’s final season as a footballer, and he is going out like a champ. Kroos has led Real Madrid on the pitch this season. Important match changing assist against Bayern Munich, unbelievable passing range as always and impeccable play all season.
Matt Hummels
At 35, Matt Hummels led Dortmund to the Champions League final. He has been a rock defensively for the German side, and he leads in almost every important defensive metric in the competition this season.
His goal against PSG in the second leg of the semifinal tie also solidifies his place as one of the best players in the competition this year.
Vinícius Júnior
Viní has carried Real Madrid on his back throughout the knockout stages of this competition. Stellar performances against Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and RB Leipzig.
Goal to secure qualification in the second leg of their against RB Leipzig. Two assists in Madrid’s 3-3 draw against Man City. Created Real Madrid’s goal at the Etihad v Manchester City.He also scored a brace against Bayern in the first leg of the semifinals. The Brazilian terrorized Bayern defence in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, and assisted one of Joselu’s goals.
Vinícius Júnior has been the best player in the UEFA Champions League this season.
