The future of Mohamed Salah at Anfield is in serious doubt after the Egyptian forward launched an astonishing attack on Liverpool, accusing the club of making him a “scapegoat” for their poor start to the season.

Salah’s furious comments came after he was left on the bench for a third consecutive match during the champions’ 3-3 draw with Leeds.

“I can’t believe… I’m sitting on the bench for 90 minutes,” Salah stated, feeling deeply betrayed. “It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus… I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame.”

The four-time Premier League top scorer revealed his relationship with the manager had completely broken down: “I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager, and all of a sudden, we don’t have any relationship.” He strongly suggested that the upcoming home game against Brighton could be his last, as he prepares to join the Egypt squad for the Africa Cup of Nations.

“In my head, I’m going to enjoy that [Brighton] game because I don’t know what is going to happen now,” he admitted, hinting a January transfer could be imminent.

Despite signing a two-year extension in the spring, Salah feels the club failed to keep its promises, adding, “I got a lot of promises, and so far I am on the bench for three games, so I can’t say they have kept the promise.”

When asked about long-standing interest from the Saudi Pro League, Salah remained evasive, suggesting the decision was now out of his hands: “I don’t want to answer this question. Because the club is going to take me in a different direction.” His talent and marketability ensure major clubs, including those in the Saudi League and possibly Paris Saint-Germain, would vie for his signature if he becomes available next month.

The forward concluded by expressing his pain and confusion:

“I thought I’m going to renew here and end my career here, but this is not according to the plan, so I’m not regretting signing for the club for sure.”
