Marquinhos is headed to Europe this summer. Arsenal have agreed to a £3M deal with Sao Paulo for a highly rated attacker, let’s get to know him.
Marcus Vinicius Oliveira Alencar, popularly known as Marquinhos, was born in 2003 in Sao Paulo. The 19-year-old attacker plays for his boyhood club Sao Paulo in the Brazilian Serie A. The young attacker has tipped for great things and has already been snapped up by Arsenal.

Hernan Crespo’s Trust In Marquinhos
Marquinhos made his debut for Sao Paulo at 18 after years of being in the club’s academy. Coach Hernan Crespo trusted the youngster in a 1-0 win against FC Bahia.
The Sao Paulo manager also started the young attacker in the Copa Libertadores against Racing Club. The youngster rewarded the manager’s trust with a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win.
He scored in the Copa Libertadores, aged 18, the same age as Alexis Sanchez and Carlos Tévez.
A pacey, left-footed attacker who enjoys running at players. Brazilian legend Vampeta was not happy after he heard about Marquinhos’ transfer fee to Arsenal. The Brazilian legend knows the 19-year-old is worth more.
This is absurd. This is absurd. They’re going to lose Marquinhos to Arsenal for €3million. I don’t know if you remember, I used to say I watched Audax’s academy games, Marquinhos in the Under-15 he used to already make the difference.
I said here on the show, ‘There’s an Under-15 at Sao Paulo, Marquinhos’… Now he’s going to leave on a silver platter.
Playing Style
Marquinhos plays majorly on the wings. He is more comfortable on the the right-wing because of his swift left-foot. Watching him fly down the left-wing reminds one of Douglas Costa. His goal stats are not impressive, but he brings a whole lot more to any attack. He has great potential and it is clearly why Arsenal want him.
