Some of the biggest teams around Europe made some key signings ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup
The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup kicks off on June 14, with top teams bolstering their squads during an early summer transfer window. Here are the top five players poised to shine with their new clubs at the tournament.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Real Madrid

Xabi Alonso will harness new signings, including former Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold, who joined Real Madrid before the Club World Cup. After leaving his boyhood club, the English defender is set to be a cornerstone for the Spanish giants. Real Madrid signed him as a free agent in the summer of 2025, but paid Liverpool €10.6 million to secure his services early for the tournament.
Jobe Bellingham, Borussia Dortmund
Another Bellingham lands at Dortmund. Jobe Bellingham joined from Sunderland before the World Cup and is included in the squad traveling to the United States. Following Sunderland’s Premier League promotion, the young star followed his brother Jude’s path to Dortmund. He’s tipped to be a standout talent at the tournament, with all eyes on him.
Tijjani Reijnders, Manchester City

Tijjani Reijnders signed for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City from AC Milan for €75 million, marking a major coup in the 2025 transfer window. The Dutch midfielder, who scored 15 goals in 54 matches during the 2024-25 Serie A season, is versatile, excelling as a deep-lying playmaker, box-to-box midfielder, or attacking option. He’s expected to be a key figure in a revamped City squad.
Liam Delap, Chelsea
Chelsea signed striker Liam Delap ahead of the Club World Cup, their sole addition for Enzo Maresca’s squad. The Blues paid €37.7 million to activate his release clause from Ipswich Town after their relegation.
Delap will travel to the United States, though Chelsea’s pursuit of AC Milan’s Mike Maignan fell through before the June 10 deadline.
