Before getting re-elected by Real Madrid socios on Sunday, Florentino Perez promised a €150 million bid for an unnamed attacker, the attacker is now comfirmed to be Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez. Real Madrid reportedly sent a €150 million bid for the Argentine forward on Tuesday, but just like Barcelona’s effort earlier in the window to sign the World Cup winner, Atletico Madrid have publicly laughed it off.

Real Madrid’s released an oficial statement after their bid failed: After reviewing and evaluating the offer, Club Atletico de Madrid has expressed its gratitude for the proposal, made within the framework of the good relations between both clubs, and has rejected it, referring to the player’s release clause.

Atletico Madrid’s official twitter handle went ahead to quote Real Madrid’s statement by laughing their attempt to sign Alvarez off amidst a series of tweets.

Atletico Madrid account went on to tweet the following:

Official statement with our clarifications regarding the official statement from our neighbors Real Madrid:

1. They cut out the part of the Pope’s video where he said he was an Atleti fan too.

2. You must have confused education with gratitude, but to leave no doubt: we don’t thank you for anything.

3. We neither study nor consider any offer for Julián.

4. How could we not get along, when you make us laugh even more than Barcelona does.

Atletico Madrid remain firm in their claim that they will not consider any offer for Julian Alvarez this summer as they have now rebuffed offers from the two biggest clubs in Spain. Real Madrid will have to look else where for reinforcements to their attack and also midfield as they get set to welcome the secnd coming of Jose Mourinho.
