Juventus were out-played in Israel on Tuesday night. The club’s hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League suffered a hefty blow. Despite that defeat, Massimiliano Allegri has been backed by the Old Lady, as they trust in him to turn things around.
The Serie-A giants have started this season poorly, and they’ve struggled in almost every game they’ve played this term. Juventus are currently 8th in the Serie A, 10 points off leaders Napoli. Now it looks almost certain that they’ll drop to the Europa League or worse, finish last in their group.
There are signs of lack of quality on the pitch with injury to summer signing Paul Pogba limiting their midfield. Also, there is no clear growth path for a team that need a total overhaul in every department.
Allegri came back to Juventus last season as the Old Lady wanted to start rebuilding their team to what it once was. However there has been little progress from the beginning of last campaign till this time. Except for the signing of Dusan Vlahovic, Juventus haven’t really invested in the team, and it shows as they continue to struggle on the pitch.
That’s why Juve will continue to back the manager for now, as club president Andrea Agnelli said after yesterday’s defeat
Massimiliano Allegri is our head coach and he will stay,’
Agnelli told Sky Italia after Tuesday’s defeat.
Allegri also relishes the challenge of turning things around for Juventus.
‘I’m not going to step down, absolutely — because it’s a challenge now. When it gets harder, it’s even more beautiful,’
