- The Blues have contacted German Manager Hansi Flick as a possible replacement for Graham Potter.
Chelsea have previously contacted former Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick over the possibility of becoming the club’s coach. Since the new owners decided to sack Thomas Tuchel and bring in Graham Potter, Chelsea have struggled in the Premier League. Although Todd Boehly still backs the current Chelsea manager, if results continue to elude the former Brighton manager, The Blues will reportedly try to persuade German boss Hansi Flick to join.
According to Christian Falk, Chelsea were in contact with Hansi Flick before they decided to hand Graham Potter a 5-year-deal. The current German manager wanted to focus on the World Cup and is also looking forward to guiding Die Mannschaft to the 2024 Euros. However, he was spotted recently at Stamford Bridge and although some sources claim he was there to watch Kai Havertz, there is reason to believe that Chelsea could have contacted him again.
Graham Potter failed to pick up all 3 points against Fulham last week, and that leaves Chelsea with an impossible mission of getting into the top 4 this season. Hansi Flick’s Bayern Munich won the Sextuple (6 trophies in one year) before he left the Bavarians to manage the national team.
Other candidates like Luis Enrique, Pochettino and José Mourinho are all reportedly available for the role. The new owners have invested over 600 million Euros in players, and with their ambition, if results continue to disappoint, they will be looking to find a better manager.
So soon??
