- Away victory at Espanyol Seals The League For Xavi’s Men
Barcelona have clinched their first La Liga title since 2019, with a 2-4 away victory against local rivals Espanyol.
The Catalans raced to a 3-0 lead inside the first 40 minutes, with Alejandro Balde scoring between Lewandowski’s double in the first half.
Jules Kounde scored with a header in the second half to make it 4-0. Espanyol got two goals at home to make the scoreline more respectable, but they couldn’t delay the party for Barça, who were able to secure their 27th La Liga title.
Barça boss Xavi Hernandez was ecstatic with their performance on the night that saw them secure their 27th La Liga title.
We have been brilliant. The team has relaxed at the end and they have shown pride. We have won La Liga in a derby, which is not normal.”
This is a huge step for Barça as they look to start challenging in all competitions again.
