James Harden has slammed 76ers president Daryl Morey just Two days after it was reported that the team had ended trade talks involving the disgruntled star.
“Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of,” Harden said during an Adidas press event in China.
“Let me say that again. Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of.”
The Sixers had off-season conversations with the LA Clippers regarding a trade with no success.
The team agreed to a trade upon the request of James Harden after the former Nets star picked up his $35.6 million player option in June. However, the Sixers’ asking price was steep and no teams have been able to meet it.
Harden’s unhappiness with Morey stems from the lack of a long-term maximum-level contract offer. The team is risking Harden’s arrival at training camp bringing anything but a championship mindset.
Philadelphia believes it will be a championship contender with Harden’s return. The hope is that, alongside MVP center Joel Embiid, the team can make it work. The priority for the Sixers organisation next season will be to at least get to the conference final.
