PSG and Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi has won the 2025 CAF African Footballer of the Year award. Hakimi has had a brilliant 2025 with both Paris Saint-Germain and the Moroccan national team.

With his club, he won the domestic treble in France and also the UEFA Champions League and the Super Cup, while also reaching the final of the FIFA Club World Cup in the USA. With his national team, Achraf Hakimi helped Morocco secure qualification to the 2026 World Cup comfortably.

Achraf Hakimi becomes the second ever defender to win the African Player of the year award and the first since Bwanga Tshimen, who won it back in 1973.
The former Real Madrid man was one of the most important cogs in PSG successful 2024/25 campaign.

As a right back for Luis Enrique’s side, Hakimi regularly inverted into midfield to help his side dominate matches. His industry, work ethic, and leadership stand out, as highlighted by his impact on the Moroccan national team.
