Joao Cancelo, Reece James and Arnold! Three Defenders That Are So Important To The Way Their Teams Play. Who Do You Think Is The Best Among The Them?

Calling these guys defenders sounds wired right? Reece James is Chelsea’s top scorer in the Premier League. Joao Cancelo is arguably the most creative player at Manchester City at the moment, and Trent Alexander Arnold is as decisive as ever.

For football lovers, It is hard to choose between these players as they have distinctive attributes that also suit the system their respective teams play.

Reece James has the ability to sit and play as the third man in Chelsea’s defense. Although this season, he has found joy playing as Chelsea’s most attacking wing-back. He and Ben Chilwell have contributed more goals to the Chelsea team than most of their attackers.

Joao Cancelo also has been very key for Manchester City. The Portuguese plays like a midfielder most of the time as he can find a gap to pass and also makes marauding runs in and around the box.

While Trent Alexander-Arnold’s position hardly changes on the pitch, the quality of his deliveries are unbelievable. He has racked up so many assists for club and country this season, and his absence always hurt Liverpool.

So, now you understand why I said it is hard to choose between these players?

Just as highlighted earlier, these stats above just show how these players operate differently. They have similar output, but the way they go about their business in their respective teams is very different.
So, picking your favorite really determines the way you wanna play and use either one of them.

In my opinion, Reece James is by far the most complete right-back in the Premier League. He has the skill set to be a rock at the back when needed. James is incredibly strong for a 21-year-old. He also has what it takes to venture into the box and score goals as well as pick out his teammates.

Alexander-Arnold’s weakness is the way he defends. Joao Cancelo also gets easily carried away when attacking and is often caught out of position. For me, they are all full-backs, the variations in the way they play is due to their manager’s system.

The main goal of a right-back is to defend, so as James can defend very well and attack, he takes it for me. What do you think?
