Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has ruled Alisson and Diogo Jota out of this weekend’s FA Community Shield match against Manchester City. Liverpool and City will kick off the domestic season once again at Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening.
Alisson sustained an injury against Manchester United in Bangkok earlier this month. Diogo Jota has not trained at all this season as he continues to recover from an hamstring injury. Liverpool will also not be able to call on second choice goalie Caoimhin Kelleher. Adrian will be in goal against Manchester City and that will do little to help Liverpool get the only domestic trophy they have not won under Klopp.
Only Manchester United (21) and Arsenal (16) have won the Charity shield more than Liverpool (15)
Klopp knows the importance of the season opener and also stated that pre-season will continue even after the season starts.
